The Place des artisans, a creative stopover in Tarascon
Just steps from Tarascon's town hall, directly across from an incredible upholsterer and decorator, between a beauty salon and an (excellent) restaurant, I head to the boutique "La Place des Artisans" (The Artisans' Square) . Take the plunge and go in! You'll discover a treasure trove of original creations, including clothing, leather goods, jewelry, and… herbal teas. A burst of creative energy!
A designer boutique in the heart of Tarascon
At the entrance of the boutique "La Place des Artisans ," I met Véronica Herisson, a seamstress and designer specializing in medieval costumes. Véronica gave me a warm welcome and explained, "There are six of us designers working in the shop right now, and we've each taken turns running the shop. Today, it's my turn." A happy coincidence, no doubt. Véronica put down her current embroidery project and showed me her creations: small leather goods, wallets, purses, pouches, and small bags that she makes from leftover fabrics and leathers used in the making of medieval clothing.

Michael SerraFrom Moldova to Tarascon
“I’m a leather goods engineer. In Moldova, I was a university professor teaching leather garment making. Since moving to Tarascon seven years ago, I’ve been trying to develop my skills.” Having come from Moldova to Provence seven years ago for a fashion show, Veronica met her future husband and settled in Tarascon for love… “I love Tarascon! It’s so different from my country. I’m used to it and I feel good here.”
Projects at your fingertips…
Veronica's plan? To develop her passion for embroidery, continue making historical costumes, and then open her own shop. She also wants to try her hand at making Arlesian costumes… “I’ve fallen under its spell!” A word to the wise, ladies…
To meet Veronica and the other creators, head to Place des Artisans. A whole creative world awaits you and deserves a peaceful and inspiring stop in the historic heart of Tarascon.

What you need to know about the “Place des artisans”
A true springboard, the Place des Artisans (Artisans' Square) is an experimental initiative conceived and launched by the ACCM urban community , in partnership with the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Chamber of Trades and Crafts, designed to facilitate the start-up of new craft businesses in the heart of the city. It offers artisans a valuable opportunity to test their business plans and the marketability of their products and services.
Two other shops are also located in Arles and Saint-Martin-de-Crau.
