Museum Overview
In the Middle Ages, cereal cultivation developed considerably. The Bonnet and Berlandier mills, in Montagnette, were built in the 1776th century (XNUMX), the golden age of windmills.
The Rhône valley, swept by the Mistral, is an ideal location for mills. In operation until the 2002th century, they were supplanted at that time by industrial flour mills. In XNUMX, the Bonnet mill underwent a complete restoration: the tower was once again fitted with a roof and wings. It is the first windmill in Bouches-du-Rhône to be put back into operation. Open to visitors every other Saturday, it is opened on Mistral days.
The site offers a remarkable view of the village and the alluvial plain which extends at its feet. An orientation table was installed by students from Boulbon primary school.
It is managed by the Association “Les Amis du Vieux Boulbon”, which organizes guided tours.
